Brainstormnixonix: From www.medicaldevice-network.com: MeMed obtains CE mark for MeMed COVID-19 Severity00:00
nixonixfunny that not single interleukins used00:00
de-factoi think there also were some machine learning approaches iirc00:00
nixonixyeah, those were in the plan last summer already, like one finnish product i linked here back then00:01
de-factolike neuronal network, feed in all available parameters, give it some reward metric for predicting severity and let its prediction precision evolve with many datasets00:02
BrainstormUpdates for Aruba: +61 cases (now 11521) since 20 hours ago00:06
nixonixi dont know about that diabetes thing, i think its rare. no ace2 in those beta cells. there is tmprss and nlp-1 but not that much00:21
nixonixan article said tmprss, not tmprss2 - a typo or something close enough, idk00:21
nixonix.title https://www.nature.com/articles/s42255-020-00339-700:22
Brainstormnixonix: From www.nature.com: Can COVID-19 cause diabetes? | Nature Metabolism00:22
de-factodiabetes is one of the major risk factors for severe progressions00:22
nixonixbut it could reactivate dormant viruses like vsv00:26
nixonix(i dont know why i added that, its an another subject. i guess to balance out something positive with some negative, that hasnt been mentioned much)00:27
nixonixsome of the long covid symptoms may actually be due to dormant sars2 reactivation00:28
nixonixif it hides in some type of cells, where its deactivated their internal immune response00:29
de-factowe definitely need to know more about breakthrough, it will become more and more relevant to majorities00:33
nixonixhttps://twitter.com/Birdyword/status/141859232383175066400:34
nixonixif uk had nearly reached herd immunity threshold for kent variant (vaccinations and infections, considering spring and measures affecting), and then the same happened that fast with indian variant at all the regions00:35
nixonixthat would mean its R_0 must be really high00:36
nixonixto spread that fast at all the regions00:36
nixonixeven with freedom day and all happening00:37
nixonixand the same in holland (although they reinstated some measures)00:38
nixonixbut i expected that to happen quite soon in uk anyway. since the difference for the threshold isnt that big, even if the differences with R0 are00:39
nixonixlike 75-80% -> 85-90% or so. and vaccinations progressing all the time00:40
de-factofrom my fits for Germany it was like Rt(Delta) ~ 1.45 Rt(Delta) iirc00:40
nixonix1.45*kent? i think its more, even more than 1.600:41

Brainstormde-facto: From www.ons.gov.uk: Coronavirus (COVID-19) latest insights - Office for National Statistics00:41
nixonixyeah i pasted that earlier00:42
de-factocorrection: from my fits for Germany it was like Rt(Delta) ~ 1.45 Rt(Alpha) iirc00:43
de-factoyeah kent00:43
nixonixor this, but the same info https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/healthandsocialcare/conditionsanddiseases/bulletins/coronaviruscovid19infectionsurveyantibodyandvaccinationdatafortheuk/21july202100:44
nixonixyeah, i figured that00:44
nixonixso when is germany following denmark, france, italy with vaccine passports for bars and events?00:48
nixonixtheres talk about those now in finland. the problem is (exp that some politicians oppose), that they would want recent negative test accepted too, and you need to go to private doctor for them, costing 100-20000:49
nixonixrecent poll, 63% support, 24% oppose, the rest cant say00:49
nixonixpoll for vaccinations, only 6% said they want be getting vaccinations. the share of not sure was something like 15% or so, i think00:50
de-factoimho vaccine passports are a very bad idea, because then vaccinated dont get tested, despite the knowledge there are (asymptomatic?) breakthrough infections00:51
de-factoas you said, for preventing transmission we probably need nasal spray vaccines inducing IgA00:51
de-factoyet, for motivating vaccinations, hence preventing severe progressions and reducing load on healthcare system, those vaccine passports may be good00:52
de-factoso there are always two sides to any measure00:52
dTalde-facto, there are many many consequences of vaccine passports though00:55
dTalfor example they might motivate people to get vaccinated00:55
de-factoyeah of course00:55
dTalthey also allow gatherings of only vaccinated people, which are much safer even if one of the attendees has an asymptomatic  breakthrough case00:56
LjLde-facto, actually i heard that Germany is going to keep requiring test from inbound travellers even if they're vaccinated00:56
de-factothat would be really good, afaik they discuss tests for non-vaccinated currently00:57
de-factoi really do hope they just would go ahead a test fully vaccinated too00:57
LjLwell i don't know, they said it on Italian tv, they may be wrong00:57
de-factothen they could know how many breakthrough we have, and sequence those00:57
dTalwow it reallly does look as if UK's delta wave has burned out00:58
de-factoimho that approach would be much more sane, test everyone, then monitor for changes instead of assuming things we simply dont know yet (evolution of breakthrough rates)00:58
de-factodTal, that would be really good news if it ran out of fuel, yet i remain a bit skeptic still00:59
nixonixnot representative sample, tho, because 86% said they already had at least 1st dose (its prob around 80% now for over 18, 1st dose prevalence here). 6% were never-vaxxers, 6% more will take, and 2% not sure. those that answered the poll01:01
nixonixthose antivaxers will be marginalized... i wonder if they will radicalize01:06
dTalyou speak as if they aren't already01:06
nixonixyou are ahead there in uk01:07
dTalI do think it's a mistake to use the category "antivaxer"01:07
dTalcovid vaccine resistance is a seperate phenomenon from the classic crystal homeopathy soccer mom karen crowd antivaxer01:08
nixonixyeah many of them are just worried of the rare side effects. but i was thinking about those antivax ramblers, that i just today read on some forum01:08
dTalsorry for the stereotype01:08
dTalbut hopefully you understand01:08
de-factoyeah looks like travel returnees test unless vaccinated, already upsets me that they ignore breakthrough completely, i dont know why01:08
nixonixwith their "evidence", really important doctors saying this and that, accumulating in ovaries and what not01:08
dTalmagical thinking and convenience de-facto01:09
de-factobtw am officially fully vaccinated since yesterday, still wearing mask and continue exactly as before01:10
nixonixi hope they keep having protests the whole 5 years while waiting for those long term side effects to appear01:10
de-factothe difference is that tests for air passengers already is mandatory, now they want to make it mandatory for normal car driving passengers on "border" too01:11
nixonixi wonder how they will do that01:12
de-factoi am not sure, but that seems to be what they discuss01:12
nixonixand eu doesnt like it, restricting free movement01:12
nixonixthey used to nag about our stricter restrictions since the last summer01:13
nixonixborder restrictions01:13
de-factobut a test makes a lot of sense01:14
de-factorequiring test cert, then controlling minority of car drivers with police01:15
nixonixtheres quite a bit those type of people, silver water drinkers and like, not going to get vaccinated in europe. maybe not that many in uk01:15
nixonix(not sure if drinking silver water is a thing outside of finland)01:16
de-factonever heard that before01:16
nixonixit cures things, i think01:17
de-factoRKI wants to remain at incidence values for indicating epidemic status evolution01:18
nixonixsome feller was in some eastern european country, possibly hungary. he said men were manly guys who didnt believe in rona severity or vax, and women were silver water drinkers and stuff01:19
nixonixso didnt look very promising vaccine coverage01:19
nixonixvax curve in estonia was in downward slope already. and they got extra doses due to high case numbers and complaining to eu (austria didnt participate in sharing)01:21

nixonixsemi-recent mrna vaccination, VE against symptomatic infection with indian variant close to 90%, PCR positivity around 80% (not sure of source for this), and if getting infected, then the likelihood to infect onwards reduced - but how but how much with indian variant. around half perhaps01:44
nixonix*but by how much01:45
nixonixtired01:45
nixonixso double vaccinated, if its somewhat recent, is a better preventive measure than those rapid tests, for access to bars and events01:48

Elw3Say what is the preferable vaccine to get right now?02:18
Raf[m]<Elw3 "Say what is the preferable vacci"> I would say probably Moderna, or Pfizer close second02:23
Raf[m]My 2 cents. Not medical advice02:23
Raf[m]mRNA seems more reliable and safer than say, Jannsen or AstraZeneca02:23
mpsaro[m]Completely false information02:26
Elw3It is at least quoted for less side effects, but then again its covered in nano particles and there are no long term studies on that. Suspectely they are carcinogenic.02:26
mpsaro[m]Moderna, pfizer, AZ and J&J are all poison02:27
mpsaro[m]https://rumble.com/vkgdq7-deadly-shots-former-pfizer-employee-confirms-poison-in-covid-vaccine.html02:27
LjLsays the one who linked to random "5G uses frequencies made for bioweapons" nonsense02:27
Elw3Yesyes, so is oxigen, breathing lets you burn alive very slowly. But i want to know which is least poisonous.02:28
LjL-MatrixElw3: there are multiple possible angles to ask that question from, though. now you say "which is the least poisonous"... now I really don't feel as confident as Raf yet in saying the mRNA side effects are more benign / rarer than the adenoviral ones (in both cases they're rare, but the Pfizer myocarditis surfaced later and may be hiding in more cases, although I bet it's usually much less devastating than the AZ thing), but to me, the first02:31
LjL-Matrixmetric would be "which is the one that fights COVID best"02:31
Raf[m]Pfizer myocarditis.. is that in adolescents? I think I heard something about that02:33
LjLbut ultimately if *i* were to choose which vaccine to get, on a wholly personal assessment, which may include irrational as well as rational factors probably, i would also get either Moderna or Pfizer, which no big preference towards either (Moderna is said to have slightly more annoying side effects, but on the other hand, Pfizer is not yet trialling a variant vaccine, while Moderna already is, so i'd hope to get a Moderna booster for Delta sooner)02:33
LjLRaf[m], not just adolescents, it has occurred in people under 30 or so, but of course in adolescents it may be considered a more serious issue in a risk/benefit analysis02:34
LjLRaf[m], i think report of it started to come from Israel originally, but then the FDA caught up02:34
Raf[m]Interesting02:34
BrainstormUpdates for Vietnam: +6559 cases (now 120819), +106 deaths (now 630) since 23 hours ago — Netherlands: +3793 cases (now 1.9 million), +5 deaths (now 17951) since 23 hours ago — Germany: +4396 cases (now 3.8 million), +69 deaths (now 92106) since 14 hours ago — Canada: +548 cases (now 1.4 million) since 23 hours ago02:35
Elw3I thought the numbers of these _side effects_ where in the normal distributation of these problems to begin with, in other words the number isnt statistically detectable.02:38
LjLElw3, both problems (AZ blood clotting and Pfizer myocarditis) have been causally attributed to the vaccines. AZ has been phased out in most of the EU for people younger than 60 or so, partly due to that (although you could argue there are also commercial/political reasons, plus that if people are scared of it, even if the effect is very rare, might as well give up trying)02:40
LjLElw3, you may have heard that the cases of blood clotting are well within the normal distribution of blood clotting, and that's true, but the thing AZ causes is a very specific situation that is not just *any* type of blood clotting02:40
Elw3Sounded political to me.02:40
LjLanyway i'm not here to say that AZ is particularly dangerous. i don't like AZ but that's mainly because the company messed up quite a few things, and the vaccine simply isn't all that efficacious02:41
LjLif AZ were more efficacious than Pfizer/Moderna, i'd take AZ, regardless of the small thrombosis risk02:41
LjL(i mean, still in the hypothetical scenario where i can choose, since i really can't :P)02:42
Elw3If that all is the case it might be that you cant even select AZ as an option to begin with making the whole question pointless.02:42
LjLi don't have "options"02:43
LjLi can either take what i'm offered, or refuse the vaccine and end up at the bottom of the list02:43
LjLso yes, it *is* pointless for me specifically02:43
LjLbut you asked the question :P02:43
Elw3You are still waiting for a shot?02:44
LjLno, i actually got Pfizer, which is nice since that's what i hoped for02:44
Elw3Here in germany ppl are apparently not going and the Vaccine piles up.02:44
LjLbut i'm saying it's how it works here and how it worked for me02:44
LjLyes, it happened in some regions here with AZ as well...02:44
LjLnot sure if you're talking about AZ or other vaccines are piling up too?02:45
LjLright now i'm hearing that the green pass becoming mandatory for a few things is boosting vaccine bookings up again02:45
Elw3That i dont know. But the radio is full of "the vacc is here, but we miss the people!"02:45
Elw3Figured i can take a shot without that much hassle now so i look into it.02:46
LjLi'm not too surprised... it's August, people want to be on holidays, meanwhile the majority of the people who wanted the vaccines have gotten the vaccine, so many of those who are left are necessarily harder to reach, either because they are vaccine-hesitant or for other reasons02:46
LjL(yes, i know it's still technically July)02:46
LjLfor me now the biggest concern is that none of the vaccines are effective *enough* against Delta02:47
LjLso really the vaccine *i* would choose, ideally, is whatever Moderna is coming up with that has sequences for variants (not directly Delta yet i think, but it should be more efficacious on Delta as well anyway, and they also talked about a "one-shot" multivalent vaccine)02:48
LjLi'd arguably prefer to choose it after it's gotten past a phase 3 trial, but again, pointless, since it's not like i *can* get it until after it has :P02:49
LjLGermany has also been doing mixed AZ+mRNA shots, which according to some (maybe slightly quick and dirty?) studies is actually the combination that produces the most antibodies02:50
LjLbut if adverse effects are a concern for you, well, you're logically exposing yourself to the ones elicited by both, plus potentially some elicited by the combination, although the study only found more of the annoying-but-benign side effects02:51
LjLmyself, while i recognize these vaccines have been tested for a relatively brief period compared to any other vaccine i've had, i'm *overwhelmingly* more concerned about side-effects of COVID (including long-term ones) than with the ones from the vaccine02:52
Elw3I think its too late for a second shot anyway. I plan to get an updated delta version next anyway.02:53
LjLi'm not too optimistic on delta-specific versions coming very soon :(02:55
LjLbut hey i'm generally not optimistic on anything so you may ignore me02:55
Elw3Eh, i hate optimists.02:57
LjLElw3, if you get an mRNA shot now-ish, you're likely to get the second one end of august / start of september, and there's no way an updated vaccine will be already rolled out in the EU by then02:57
de-facto.title https://investors.biontech.de/news-releases/news-release-details/pfizer-and-biontech-provide-update-booster-program-light-delta02:57
Brainstormde-facto: From investors.biontech.de: Pfizer and BioNTech Provide Update on Booster Program in Light of the Delta-Variant | BioNTech02:57
de-facto"While Pfizer and BioNTech believe a third dose of BNT162b2 has the potential to preserve the highest levels of protective efficacy against all currently tested variants including Delta, the companies are remaining vigilant and are developing an updated version of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine that targets the full spike protein of the Delta variant."02:58
de-facto"The first batch of the mRNA for the trial has already been manufactured at BioNTech’s facility in Mainz, Germany. The Companies anticipate the clinical studies to begin in August, subject to regulatory approvals."02:58
LjL"While Pfizer and BioNTech believe a third dose of BNT162b2 is cheaper for us to make and so we'd make more money, the FDA and CDC gave us the finger, so, okay, we're going to make a variant vaccine, pffffft"02:58
de-factowell they do both i guess02:59
LjLsure they had both cards up their sleeve, but they were certainly hoping to get an EUA for a third regular shot03:00
de-factoprobably would be faster available03:00
de-factowith the signature update they need to run clinical studies again03:00
LjLde-facto, do you know the date of that press release? i might be blind but i don't see a date on the page, and i don't see a corresponding press release by Pfizer03:01
de-facto8 July 202103:02
de-factohttps://investors.biontech.de/press-releases03:02
LjLthanks03:04
LjLi'm adding their RSS feed to the bot too, will see if Moderna and AZ have one too03:04
LjLlooks like Moderna isn't modern enough to have an RSS feed for their press releases :<03:05
LjLand neither does AZ, uff03:06
LjLNovavax is best, they have a COVID-specific RSS feed03:08
de-factoyeah could not find feeds for them either03:08
de-factoAZ and Moderna i mean03:09
LjLBioNTech and Pfizer both have one, which is going to be redundant, but oh well03:09
LjLmass bot restart time03:09
de-factoyeah in doubt go with BioNTech since they develop it03:10
de-factobut i guess they are copies of each others press releases more or less03:10
LjLRaf[m], just because i'm noticing it in this press release, BNT itself says "Reports of adverse events following use of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine under EUA suggest increased risks of myocarditis and pericarditis, particularly following the second dose. The decision to administer the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine to an individual with a history of myocarditis or pericarditis should take into account the individual’s clinical circumstances."03:16
Raf[m]that makes sense03:16
LjLbut despite not wanting to give medical advice, i think de-facto's idea of *not* exercising (at least not strenuously) after getting the shot for a few days can't go wrong03:17
LjL(if you're under 30 or so at least)03:17
LjLmyocarditis can resolve on its own if it's mild, but can also give you a heart attack if you run the marathon03:17
Raf[m]i agree03:17
LjLand the for what is worth, statistics are statistics but then there are individual: here are the common side effects they list, "In clinical studies, adverse reactions in participants 16 years of age and older included pain at the injection site (84.1%), fatigue (62.9%), headache (55.1%), muscle pain (38.3%), chills (31.9%), joint pain (23.6%), fever (14.2%), injection site swelling (10.5%), injection site redness (9.5%), nausea (1.1%), malaise (0.5%), and03:18
LjLlymphadenopathy (0.3%)"03:18
de-factowell nothing with high pulse rates in the first week after the mRNA shot, but some moderate movement may be important to lower thrombosis risk03:18
LjLand yet... i only had pain at the injection site after the first shot, and basically nothing at all after the second03:19
* LjL shrugs03:19
LjL(maybe my immune system doesn't work though)03:19
de-factono reactogenicity is not necessarily linked to immunogenicity03:20
LjLi'd be curious to take an antibody test, they're cheap enough03:20
LjLbut03:20
de-factoe.g. they found similar levels of antibodies in people with side effects compared to those with almost no side effects03:20
LjLto get it, i'd be going to the place where all the people who suspect they have COVID are going to get tested :P03:21
LjLso i'd be curious but also, eeeeeeh03:21
de-factoi thought you got your super 3M Aura FFP3 didnt you?03:21
de-factoif not get one, go ahead03:22
LjLhehe, yes, i do, although i have *one* and it got rather wet when i got my second dose, so i should probably get another03:22
de-factowhy not, they are also used by medical personal03:22
LjLbut i don't think masks are magical, even good ones03:22
LjL(wait, actually you said FFP3, no, I have an Aura FFP2)03:23
de-factoyeah but with tight fit they seem to give quite good protection, of course never 100%03:23
de-factothere is also an FFP3 version of it03:23
LjLbut the FFP2 alone is €5.5003:23
LjLthere is also the famous version with a *covered* valve, but it's like €35 and not really available anywhere :P03:23
de-factono there are many 3M 9330+ Aura FFP3 NR D without valve for under 5€ per piece03:27
de-factoi even could buy another brand FFP3 (with valve) for ~7€ per piece back in fall of 2020 for my parents03:28
LjLif i buy like 20, yeah03:28
LjLone piece is €6.98 on my amazon03:29
LjL20 pieces are €7203:29
de-factoyeah other places sell single masks for under 5€ plus delivery ofc03:29
de-factoso not 35€ they became much cheaper03:30
LjLthe thing is i don't use these often03:30
LjLthey reeeeally make it all very wet very quickly around my mouth, especially in the summer, regardless of what others say, that's my experience03:31
de-factoanyhow you probably can also go with your FFP2, you should most probably be just fine, i would do it in your place03:31
LjLso if i'm just doing random stuff, i wear simpler masks03:31
LjLi keep the Aura for going to medical places03:31
de-factoyeah i always have one or two replacement in my pocket in case they get wet03:31
de-factoyeah same (but not with Aura)03:32
LjLwhy not?03:32
de-factoi still got enough of what i bought back in fall of 202003:32
LjLwhich is what, that German brand?03:32
LjLi wish something like an Aura had *decent* straps03:33
LjLthe straps in my very first FFP2 masks were wonderful (the rest of the mask i dunno)03:33
de-factoyeah they still are good enough03:33
LjLmeh they're *stapled* to the mask... if you aren't careful you can hurt your face/eyes, and/or break the straps03:33
LjLit means that i don't use it at the dentist's for instance, i don't use anywhere that i have to take it off and then back on03:34
LjLbecause i'll make a mess when trying to put it back on and i'm not calmly at home03:34
de-factoi always put them on when i enter buildings and off when i leave them03:35
de-factoi put them on my arm, so they can dry03:35
LjLoh dTal today on TV they showed some italian researchers who were, err... researching... something about COVID, i don't remember what (go me), and one of them was briefly shown with what was clearly a GVS respirator of the kind you use03:35
BrainstormUpdates for Nigeria: +535 cases (now 172263), +5 deaths (now 2139) since a day ago — Bulgaria: +216 cases (now 424295), +2 deaths (now 18205) since a day ago03:36
de-facto"Via Roma, 50 - 40069 Zola Predosa (Bologna) - Italy"03:36
LjLde-facto, if i put it on when i leave the apartment, then off when i get out of the building, then on again when i enter the dentist's building, then off for the dental procedure, then on again, then off, then on in my building, i'm pretty sure at some step the straps will break or i will end up with a staple in my eye :P03:37
LjLwhat's that address?03:37
de-factoGVS03:37
LjLah, yeah they're italian, but i think the respirator is produced in the UK03:37
de-factooh that could be the case, i dont know where they are produced03:38
LjLi think we looked into that a bit a few months ago03:38
de-factoyeah i just take them off as often as possible to let it dry, because then the filter works better03:39
de-factopeople just put the straps around their arm so the mask is right above their elbow, its out of the way and does not touch anything, hence can dry without being contaminated03:40
de-factonot sure who came up with that idea, i imitated it and it indeed works quite well03:41
LjLuntil quite recently masks were mandatory indoors *and* outdoors here, i'm barely starting to be used to taking it off outdoors03:41
de-factonow basically everybody does that here03:41
de-factooh in crowded places i definitely would also wear it outdoors03:42
LjLi've seen it a lot here too, i'm just saying that compared to the (worse, i know) masks with straps around the ear, the Aura is really finicky to take on and off03:42
LjL(especially on)03:42

BrainstormUpdates for Spain: +26689 cases (now 4.4 million), +46 deaths (now 81442) since a day ago — Ethiopia: +476 cases (now 279629), +5 deaths (now 4381) since 23 hours ago22:40
LjLnixonix, i'll certainly try not to go to hospital22:43
nixonixsome rural yank once said, that he avoids hospitals any way he can. not sure if it was because he thought they were bad for health or for wallet22:45
nixonixmore rocketeers: cuba, montenegro, georgia ex-soviet, florida22:48
nixonixfinland going strong uphill too, with minimal restrictions, lots of festivals coming etc22:54
nixonixgerm festivals, happy go lucky22:54
nixonixwe are copying uk model. doesnt matter that hey might have 90% immunity or so, and we have 5% max from infections, and much lower vaccine coverage too22:55
nixonixits our turn to be a warning example22:56
nixonixhey=they22:56
nixonixfunny case peak in germany, in offloop. maybe some backlog data22:57
de-factoRKI Germany says: Weekly Incidence 16/100k,  +3,142 cases, +21 deaths23:04
de-factoweird that offloop got a +10.735 peak at latest datapoint, either an artefact or something happened23:05
mikimausokk[m]covid is fake pandemic23:06
LjLmikimausokk[m], then leave23:07
LjLthis is for people who are concerned with it23:07
de-factomikimausokk[m], tell that the relatives of those that died, prepare for their answer23:08
specinghttps://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-01813-2 Mounting evidence suggests Sputnik COVID vaccine is safe and effective23:09
specingNO BLOOD CLOTTING ?!?!23:09
LjLhttps://github.com/ljl-covid/links/blob/master/COVID-19-chat.md23:09
LjLspecing, considering it's being given to millions of people, i'd have hoped that there was already evidence of safety and effectiveness :P23:09
specingLjL: yeah23:09
LjLanyway given the article linked by nixonix, good that it's safe and effective, now if it were actually also produced and distributed...23:10
specingHeh, yeah23:11
specingArticle says it's 97+% effective23:11
nixonix"The Russian vaccine Sputnik has never been able to get approval from EMA and perhaps it never will," Draghi said.23:12
LjLmaybe that's good, but also, maybe it was already pre-decided by the EU23:14
LjLalthough they say they haven't submitted authorization request data23:14
LjLsuch geopolitical dancing23:14
specingI find missing data quite believable when it comes to russia, though :P23:14

Brainstormnixonix: From www.reuters.com: EXCLUSIVE European efforts to assess Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine stymied by data gaps | Reuters23:16
nixonixthat two different vector wasnt probably that great idea. sure anyone could have done that too, but theres the production problem, you need two different products23:19
nixonixalso Ad5 suffers from previous immunity to common virus23:20
nixonixsome chimp or gorilla adenovirus and ad26 would have been better combination23:20
nixonixbut supposedly ad5 is the easiest to use23:20
nixonixwhats the best chinese rona vacc?23:21
BrainstormNew from CIDRAP: Israeli advisors back COVID vaccine boosters for older people: Lisa Schnirring | News Editor | CIDRAP News Jul 29, 2021 Meanwhile, Africa's vaccine supply showed improvements and Delta-driven surges increased in parts of Asia and the Middle East. → https://is.gd/U3abHv23:22

specing>  that fetal bovine serum had been used in the culture to nurture the master cell bank and that the developers hadn’t documented the serum’s origin.23:23
specingthe inspectors should have seen the cow in institute's backyard, lol23:23
specingnixonix: so, combinining AZ and ad26 of sputnik?23:24
nixonixyeah, they were planning to do that23:24
nixonixbut then those problems with their data, EMA etc23:25
specingI remeember that about a year ago, we were told that sputnik wouldn't work in europe anyway due to immunity to the vector23:25
specing> After this story was published, RDIF in a statement said the assertion about the use of untraceable bovine serum was “false,” without going into specifics.23:25
specingwhy the heck is the investment fund responding to this?23:26
nixonixit varies a lot, immunity to ad26. ive read its about 50% in average, but depends on area and time. maybe currently less due to all the restrictions reducing spreading of many viruses (exp rhinos)23:26
specingi'd expect the response to come from Gamaleya and *only* Gamaleya23:26
nixonixi mean Ad523:26
de-factowell what does "immunity" actually mean?23:27
de-factosome antibodies, but maybe not enough at the injection site to prevent the viral vector to enter enough cells and deliver the payload?23:28
BrainstormUpdates for Togo: +129 cases (now 15522) since 21 hours ago — Aruba: +63 cases (now 11584), +1 deaths (now 110) since 23 hours ago23:29
de-factoits not like Janssen would not work in half of the cases or such23:29
de-factoand JnJ does also use Ad.2623:30
nixonixlevel of immunity that has an effect, in this case reducing the efficacy of the vaccine. trials tel the reall efficacy, and if it has hit by previous immunity or not23:31
nixonixthat problem was with Ad5, not Ad2623:31
nixonixtell the real - l's the other way...23:32
mikimausokk[m]fake pandemic23:33
nixonixweak troll. they used to be better back in the days23:34
de-factomaybe its a fake troll? :D23:37

nixonixill be damned. "(archaic) second-person singular simple present form of age23:45
nixonixmedical workers yeah, maybe teachers, but how can they force all the federal workers take the shot23:47
