zmoment | Hi! I'm installing a netboot/mini.iso as suggested by tuxd3v and in the guided partitioning, the EFI System Partition defaults to 536.9 MB. 32GB should be more than enough or is there anything special about this one? | 16:52 |
---|---|---|
zmoment | well, I went with 256M | 17:09 |
Tenkawa | what board you installing on? | 17:12 |
zmoment | qemu aarch64 | 17:14 |
Tenkawa | this is my rpi4 running devuan | 17:15 |

Tenkawa | /dev/sda1 255 54 202 21% /boot | 17:15 |
Tenkawa | 255 is plenty | 17:15 |
zmoment | yeah, I was guessing that, but still, played on the safe side. | 17:18 |
tuxd3v | zmoment, what is the command lind command that you are using to boot the mini.iso? | 21:56 |
tuxd3v | I am having problems booting it :( | 21:56 |
tuxd3v | maybe I am missing some package.. | 21:57 |
zmoment | do you have the QEMU_EFI.fd files to serve as '-bios' for qemu? | 21:59 |
tuxd3v | no | 22:01 |
zmoment | tuxd3v: I haven't booted it to prompt yet. Chose runit, it seems it's stopped at elogind.. | 22:01 |
tuxd3v | were to get that file? | 22:02 |
zmoment | http://snapshots.linaro.org/components/kernel/leg-virt-tianocore-edk2-upstream/latest/QEMU-AARCH64/RELEASE_GCC5/QEMU_EFI.fd | 22:02 |
zmoment | or http://snapshots.linaro.org/components/kernel/leg-virt-tianocore-edk2-upstream/latest/QEMU-ARM/RELEASE_GCC5/QEMU_EFI.fd | 22:02 |
zmoment | depending on arch | 22:02 |
tuxd3v | and how do you pass it in the qemu command? | 22:02 |
tuxd3v | I am trying aarch64 :) | 22:03 |
zmoment | -bios QEMU_EFI.fd | 22:03 |
tuxd3v | ho.. many thanks already have it :) | 22:03 |
tuxd3v | I will try again ;) | 22:03 |
tuxd3v | seems that it doesn't like me :) | 22:06 |
tuxd3v | https://paste.debian.net/hidden/9add82d3/ | 22:06 |
zmoment | I'm occupied right now, I'll take a look in a couple of hours, sorry | 22:09 |

zmoment | setting up qemu usually takes me much time... | 23:43 |
tuxd3v | zmoment, thanks | 23:45 |
tuxd3v | I discovered that I was using the wrong bios file :/ | 23:45 |
tuxd3v | I was trying aarch64 with the 32bits EFI bios :/ | 23:46 |
zmoment | can you boot fine now? | 23:46 |
tuxd3v | I intead of disk for the mini.iso, I use -cdrom path/to/mini.iso | 23:47 |
tuxd3v | and then | 23:47 |
tuxd3v | -boot order=cd | 23:47 |
tuxd3v | to start the instalation | 23:47 |
tuxd3v | I am still installing :( | 23:47 |
tuxd3v | I choosed 1 EFI partition and a / partition.. | 23:48 |
tuxd3v | your instalation should have being faster than mine | 23:49 |
tuxd3v | I am with -machine virt but only with -smp 1 | 23:49 |
tuxd3v | you have a complete setup command :) | 23:50 |
tuxd3v | zmoment, yeah I am booting fine the mini.iso, lets see the instalation.. I think it will not succeed due to the fact that the vda disk for / is too small :/ | 23:54 |
tuxd3v | zmoment, many thanks for the links for the EFI boot :) | 23:56 |
zmoment | well, it was my second try today, faster in SSD with pre-allocation, yesterday it was slower, but it still takes a lot of time. I also used a 256M swap partition. Then, when booting, it stopped at the uefi prompt. If yours also stop I already know the solution. Then it stopped at the grub prompt. Done. Now, it stops at the elongind. I chose the runit init system, don't know if it's the problem. Don't know what to do. Maybe | 23:56 |
zmoment | reinstall again. | 23:56 |
zmoment | I'm glad to have helped! | 23:56 |
tuxd3v | zmoment, yeah you indeed helped! :) | 23:57 |
tuxd3v | I am trying sysVinit to see if it goes well :) | 23:57 |
