LeePeno/10:14
LeePenkilobyte: are you here?10:14
kilobyteLeePen: meow?11:28
LeePenkilobyte: Hi. I am just wondering about elogind for Debian. Ian seems to have lost interest. Do you have upload rights?11:30
kilobytelost interest or busy?11:31
LeePenYes, or busy...11:32
kilobyteyeah, can test+upload, that'd be cool11:32
LeePenThanks. Maybe you could offer on the init-diversity list. I posted a tree of 239.3-1+debian1 there for review.11:33
golinuxTo those working on policykit stuff . . . it is still broken in beowulf.  This from ToZ on the Xfce forum this morning:16:02
golinux"Yes. I installed beowulf using the mini iso (I used the 64-bit one) and am seeing the same error message. I have just finished installing debian buster into a VM and it does not have the same issue. So your intuition is correct - it seems to be an issue with the devuan policykit packages."16:02
KatolaZgolinux: there is no policikit in beowulf16:02
KatolaZno policykit from Devuan16:02
KatolaZyou have the debian version in there16:02
golinuxThene pkexec doesn't work to get root.16:02
KatolaZwhich cannot be used since it depends on libpam-systemd16:02
KatolaZgolinux: please read above16:03
golinuxI've been leaving notes here for days with no discussion16:03
KatolaZgolinux: I have told you at least twice that there is no polkit in beowulf :)16:03
KatolaZthere is no working polkit in beowulf16:03
KatolaZ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^16:03
KatolaZat the moment16:03
golinuxWell, thunar custom actions and panel launchers are broken to gain root access.  I installed gksu and it works but that's not a "final" solution, I think.16:05
golinuxLeePen and I have had some discussion about this but I have seen no action to correct it on any front.16:06
KatolaZgolinux: please read above16:08
KatolaZnone of the launcher which is using polkit will work on beowulf until there is a Devuan version of polkit in Beowulf16:08
golinuxI have read it and this is the first time (that I can remember) that I heard there is no policykit in beowulf.16:09
golinuxI'm just trying to get a functional workflow so I can do the theming.16:10
golinuxThere's no need to be pissy about it16:11
KatolaZwhere am I being pissy? o_O16:12
golinuxI am seeing RED16:12
KatolaZo_O16:13
golinuxAnyway . . . I guess I'll stick with gksu until it gets sorted.16:13
KatolaZmaybe you should remove your red glasses :)16:14
golinuxI would Love for that to be a long-term solution.16:14
golinuxIt's xchat doing it's thing when you call me.16:14
KatolaZo_O16:15
KatolaZgolinux: gksu does not exist any more in debian16:15
golinuxI installed it from ascii.16:16
golinuxIt complians but gets the job done.16:16
golinuxIt leaves notes in the term and .xsession-errors16:17
* golinux loves gksu.16:17
golinuxIt's unsettling that no one seems interested in fixing the missing policykit problem16:18
KatolaZgolinux: there are people working on it16:19
KatolaZif you want to help, you are welcome16:19
KatolaZ:)16:20
golinuxIf I could, I would be all over it . . .16:22
golinuxBut you know that . . .16:22
golinuxMaybe we can just keep gksu in beowulf?  Problem solved . . .16:23
KatolaZno16:23
KatolaZthat's not solving any problem16:23
golinuxIt solves MY problem.16:24
KatolaZ(apart from the fact that gksu has a deadly bug that has never being fixed)16:24
KatolaZgreat16:24
KatolaZthen YOU can get the gksu package where you want16:24
KatolaZ:)16:24
golinuxdeadly bug?16:24
KatolaZwe don't need polkit for gksu16:24
golinuxI know that16:25
KatolaZhttps://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2014-288616:25
golinuxThanks16:25
KatolaZwe need polkit for anything that would otherwise require root access16:25
KatolaZincluding mounting disks16:25
KatolaZconfiguring network16:25
KatolaZand so on16:25
KatolaZall the "desktopy" things :)16:25
golinuxBTW not "deadly" - characterized as a (Minor issue)16:30
KatolaZit allows arbitrary code execution...16:36
Centurion_DanKatolaZ: o/20:18
Centurion_Danso whats this deal with polkit systemd bug??20:18
Centurion_DanKatolaZ, I'm trying to fix debian-installer grub so that it provides both ia32 and x86_64 efi support for the amd64 mini-iso.   This is because there are some systems mostly intel baytrail based systems that will only support 32bit efi booting whilst having a 64bit enabled proc.20:22
LeePengolinux:  I have a working installation of policykit on beowulf using the 0.105-18+devuan2.3 packages from experimental. I know that isn't a permanent solution and I am happy to work on a better solution this week, but if you need it to work now, that seems to do it for me. HTH20:56
