fsmithredrrq, install over wireless works and firmware-iwlwifi is installed. (still pre-tasksel here)00:14
rrqok. I'll "release" them and remake the torrent ...00:15
fsmithredopenrc question comes after full system is installed?00:18
fsmithredI think that's what I remember happening. It probably seems long because I'm installing full desktop.00:19
rrqyes it seems to be the last thing before grubbing00:19
fsmithredcool00:19
rrqI think it could well be moved more upfront, but that takes coding00:19
fsmithrednot that important00:20
golinuxI thought is came before the full installation.  Let me check.00:20
fsmithrednear grub makes sense00:20
fsmithredlast two things are the first two that happen when you turn the box on00:21
golinuxYes. 17,18 and 19 here https://devuan.org/os/documentation/install-guides/graphic-install.html00:22
golinuxrrq was very specific that everything is chosen before installing00:23
golinuxUnless I totally misunderstood something00:23
golinuxiirc I originally had it after the pkg installation and was asked to move it.00:23
rrqhmm I saw it coming *after* package installation on these new isos when I tested00:26
golinuxSo it's wrong in all the install guides?00:27
golinuxI'll check your numbered screenshots in a bit00:28
rrqmmm can it be so bad that I patched for the isos .. which might explain why my iso builder VMS had an experimental source point..00:28
golinuxLet me poke around a bit00:30
rrqok. no escape. needs to be fixed :(00:30
rrq.. no time to sit back an rhyme on the presents, as yet00:36
golinuxThe last image set I got from you had the init choice after the system installation.   Most of the conversation about that would have been in irc and long gone.  But iirc, I asked if the init option should come before or after the image of the installation progress bar and you said that it should go before.00:40
fsmithredI'm not certain it's wrong00:42
golinuxThat was 2 months ago and rather foggy in my memory.00:42
fsmithredI saw #17 and haven't gotten to 18 yet00:42
fsmithred17 is still doing its thing (installing a desktop system)00:42
golinuxHa anything installed yet other than the base system?00:42
golinuxHas00:43
fsmithredyeah00:43
fsmithredoh, I see the instructions say that it won't install until after you select init.00:44
fsmithredbrb00:44
golinuxThat was the most discussed part of the install order.00:44
golinuxrrq: If you are going to redo the isos maybe we could change the color of the progress bar from that sickly green to a nice darkpurpyish 16 bit color??00:47
golinuxJust on the installer.  I'm not up for redoing all the guides again.00:48
golinuxThat's a butt-load of work.00:48
rrqWho doesn't like work? I can watch it for hours!00:53
fsmithredlol00:55
fsmithred46% done here00:56
golinuxrrq: Work that requires renaming dozens of files is not watching.  ;)01:05
rrqhmm I'm not sure I managed to move choose-init to before installation .. I have a hard time finding it01:42
golinuxWelcome to my world01:49
rrqI'll leave the 2.1 isos as they are. will look at moving choose-init towards or before 7000 for beowulf01:54
fsmithredopenrc question came up after software installed, and openrc got installed02:14
golinuxfsmithred: Thanks for that.02:16
fsmithredholy shit, over 2 hours.02:17
golinuxrrq: Should I reorder that for the iso-docs?02:18
golinuxI can also do that on the website.02:18
golinuxDCL site came up in a proxy.02:19
rrqI seem to rememebr that we discussed it and decided to leave as is.. not a major source of confusion02:19
golinuxTime to call my isp I think.  fsr is also on spectrum.02:19
golinuxShould we wait until Beowulf then?02:20
fsmithredit boots02:20
golinux*\o/*02:21
fsmithredI need new wires - that might help with the speed.02:21
fsmithredAlso, new computer has a wireless card it it, but I need to get antennas. It does work.02:21
rrqgolinux: yes the beowulf isos will be perfect :)02:26
golinux:D02:27
golinuxbbiab02:28
rrqfsmithred: so I'll move the isos into place then02:59
fsmithredgood03:06
rrqmade new torrent as well03:21
bpmedleyrrq : I tested your netinstall .iso, I hope that's ok.  Worked rather well..04:01
bpmedleyCan I help further with anything?04:01
rrqgreat. thanks. is that the bewoulf trial?04:02
bpmedleyYes.04:02
bpmedleyIt's running in VMWare on a macOS host.04:02
rrqI hope to have some new trial(s) up soon; first a netinstall with the base system on the iso.04:05
rrqthen there were also some packages needing upgrade for beowulf, if that's something for you04:06
bpmedleyrrq : I would enjoy trying.  Is the code for package upgrades here: https://git.devuan.org/devuan-packages?sort=updated_desc ?04:07
rrqyou'll have to synchronize with LeePen (TZ=+0000) for that04:08
bpmedleyUnderstood.  I noticed some infrastructure tasks from the pad on the 12th.  Are those still needing attention?04:09
rrqall are somewhat in progress; probably all sleeping right now :)04:14
rrqthe people I mean :)04:17
bpmedleylol, gotcha..04:17
rrqgit.devuan.org/devuan-packages holds the sources for the build pipeline; then it depends on how big a job it is whether to work on a clone or on a fork04:24
bpmedleyThanks for relating that.  And LeePen is the person I should coordinate with on seeing if I can figure out enough for contributing?04:26
rrqyes04:27
bpmedleyCongrats all on 2.1, btw!!04:30
ncharliehey guys -- are the package definitions for all the packages in ceres available on GitLab somewhere?18:11
ncharlieI was reading on the docs that ceres is an alias for sid, and wasn't sure if that meant that the packages are just passed through from Debian18:12
LeePenncharlie: Packages we haven't forked (the majority :)) are used directly from debian. The forked ones are in https://git.devuan.org/devuan-packages, although some of them are no longer current.18:16
ncharlieok cool, so they're passed directly through to devuan - thanks18:18
ncharlieI had an issue with one of the packages (not a forked one), so I'll report it to Debian18:18
bpmedleyLeePen : Morning!   I heard you might need assistance with porting packages?19:24
LeePenbpmedley: Hi. Yes thanks. We are just about there for beowulf, apart from a few little used ones: distro-info-data, pcsc-lite.22:36
LeePenAny interest in those?22:37
LeePenAfter that we will need to update all the packages for unstable/chimaera.22:38
