Unit193 | LeePen: Around? | 11:48 |
---|---|---|
Unit193 | LeePen: I guess you really don't have to be! Presuming you still are interested in all things Xfce, https://mail.xfce.org/pipermail/xfce/2021-June/037352.html, and #debian-xfce moved to OFTC, also #xfce-commits was just minted but that really may not be your thing. | 11:58 |
LeePen | Unit193: thanks. | 15:25 |
LeePen | Yes, still interested | 15:25 |
Beer | It seems the display manager being installed by default for Devuan is SLiM, alongside XFCE. I am reading SLiM does not seem to be maintained anymore, and I read about LightDM that it's supposed to also be lightweight and cross-desktop, on top of supporting different display rendering (thinking about Xorg and Wayland here). Would it be worth considering? | 18:31 |
Beer | I never customised the display manager and I'm using SLiM... that's waht made me think it's coming by default. Unsure how to verify that, though | 18:32 |
golinux | Beer: This has been discussed many times. | 18:32 |
Beer | Oh sy then. | 18:32 |
Beer | sry* | 18:32 |
golinux | If you want another DM easy to install. | 18:32 |
Beer | Sure, that was not the point | 18:33 |
golinux | I suspect the default for chimaera may be LightDM for accessibility reasons but I'll still use slim for aesthetics. | 18:33 |
golinux | LightDM is just fugly | 18:34 |
Beer | fugly? | 18:37 |
fsmithred | fucking ugly | 18:38 |
UsL | I found slim to be pretty great when I needed automated login stuff on a box. Seemed a breeze compared to others. | 21:35 |
mason | Apologies, but I've been on videocalls for like 3½ hours today already. Going to play hooky for the weekly meeting. Video fatigue is real. | 22:20 |
mason | Argh, maybe I'll attend but just keep my camera off. | 22:25 |
mason | Or put in on to wave, and then off, or somesuch. | 22:25 |
adam_free2air | This morning I travelled to the outskirts of Berlin to meet Astra & her friend Zeneca for the first time. Also I don't 100% think I'm up to join tonight. | 22:27 |
fsmithred | mason should go look at far-away objects and adam_free2air should have some chicken soup. Be well, guys. | 22:28 |
mason | fsmithred: Funny you should say that. I got a message that my new glasses are in. Tomorrow I'd ought to be able to see the far-away objects pretty well, and we'll look at reading and computer glasses. | 22:29 |
mason | I'll pop in. Maybe I'll leave at 5 when I'm off the hook for work. | 22:29 |
mason | Do we have a pad set? | 22:30 |
mason | https://pad.dyne.org/code/#/2/code/edit/KoteCAF1afwA81stDGisDXhd/ | 22:31 |
mason | golinux: It's a new Jitsi. | 22:33 |
mason | Chromium is my go-to for Jitsi. | 22:34 |
golinux | I'll try in VB | 22:34 |
tuxd3v | bgstack15, sorry were is the pad for today? | 23:22 |
