golinux | FYI, I just put up a first draft of notes about how to theme a devuan release. Whoever takes on that job going forward will need all the help they can get because it is a ginormous task. | 09:10 |
---|---|---|
golinux | Please let me know if something needs clarification: https://git.devuan.org/devuan/documentation/src/branch/master/art/graphics/theming-devuan.md | 09:10 |
golinux | Xenguy: A while back you suggested a linked TOC at the top to the various sections. I bet you could whip that out in no time! | 09:12 |
golinux | :D | 09:12 |
* golinux is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel . . . | 09:16 | |
onefang | It's a train speeding towards you. | 09:25 |
* rrq idly wondering why there's no 16:9 sized wallpaper | 09:25 | |
golinux | There is | 09:32 |
golinux | There are 2 narrow options and 2 wide options | 09:33 |
golinux | - wide-large 2560 x 1600 | 09:35 |
golinux | - wide-small 1280 x 800 | 09:35 |
golinux | - narrow-large 2560 x 1920 | 09:35 |
golinux | - narrow-small 1280 x 960 | 09:35 |
golinux | hellekin chose those dimensions to cover as many screen sizes as possible | 09:36 |
golinux | and still have it look OK | 09:36 |
golinux | Sleep for me . . . | 09:37 |
rrq | wide = 8:5 ... narrow = 4:3 .. there's no HD = 16:9 .. 1960x1080 or 1280x760 or .. | 09:41 |
rrq | ah.. 1920 x 1080 | 09:42 |
rrq | all my screens are HD :) | 09:42 |
UsL | HD isn't an aspect ratio. It is a resolution standard of 1280x720. Full HD is 1920x1080. Both these have 16:9 AR. It's easy to crop that out of the 2560x1600 image. I use a laptop from 2007 which has 16:10 (8:5) AR of 1280x800p http://0x0.st/-pEJ.png | 12:37 |
rrq | it's with some risk suggest to golinux that you crop out a bit of the branding wallpaper :) | 12:40 |
gnu_srs | LeePen: What happened with the build of eudev_3.2.9-10~chimaera1, no log? | 12:42 |
UsL | rrq: haha, well, tiling or stretching it in the wall paper settings then to be on the safe side : ) , the wallpaper should look fine either way | 12:44 |
LeePen | I aborted it: build005 needed a config update (which I have done) to enable chimaera bootstrap, and the Dyne arm64 builder is offline. | 12:45 |
LeePen | I have restarted it without arm* archs. Hopefully we can get i386, amd64 and ppc64el into the iso build at 00:00Z | 12:46 |
LeePen | I can add teh arm* builds later once the builder is online. | 12:46 |
LeePen | gnu_srs: ^^^ | 12:47 |
rrq | without diminishing the urgency :) the isos are now built at 15:00 UTC | 12:47 |
LeePen | Monday 15:00? | 12:47 |
rrq | yes | 12:48 |
LeePen | OK, sorry for not noticing ;) | 12:48 |
rrq | no worries; that's what sailing is for :) | 12:48 |
gnu_srs | LeePen: Seems like the build went fine :) | 12:49 |
LeePen | gnu_srs: Yes. I think (hope) that britney won't mind the arm* packages being out of date. I will try to get it migrated this evening. | 12:51 |
LeePen | I will leave the ~beowulf build until the arm* builder is available again, if that is OK? | 12:51 |
golinux | rrq and UsL: The sizes of the wallpapers should adjust to just about any monitor size. You'll need to set "stretch" in the options. My monitor is 1920x1200 but when I pull a window to a different size in VB, the BG always adjusts gracefully. | 18:30 |
golinux | I use the "wide-large" option. | 18:32 |
golinux | I remember when hellekin was working on the sizing of the images and he thought long and hard about it and tested extensively before he settled on those dimensions. | 18:35 |
golinux | The images have always looked fine for me on wide/narrow aspect ratios or fluidly in VB. | 18:37 |
UsL | golinux: yes, tiling or stretching gives fine results. Nice work with the documentation btw! | 19:26 |
golinux | UsL: Thanks. I just hope that someone will be willing to take on the task. | 19:42 |
