LeePen | onefang: I am currently rebuilding all the ceres packages with Build-Depends: systemd against the new dummy-systemd-dev package to see how many it fixes. | 15:05 |
---|---|---|
LeePen | wireguard builds OK! | 15:05 |
onefang | Cool. | 15:23 |
onefang | Now I can sleep. B-) | 15:24 |
Unit193 | wireguard (and some others) only use systemd to find out where to install systemd units. The only systemd thing there is the wg-quick@.service template service and .target. On non-systemd systems, I guess one would use NM or ifupdown, whichever you're otherwise using (But IMO NM managing that is subpar. :P) | 18:47 |
LeePen | Unit193: Thanks. Yes, that is why the new dummy-systemd-dev fixes most cases. | 18:59 |
Unit193 | Some things would be a little neutered, not sure if eg netplan.io, pipewire, wireplumber have other methods of starting. | 19:05 |
Unit193 | Anywho... | 19:06 |
LeePen | I am test building tehm all at the moment to find the ones that are still not fixed. | 19:06 |
Unit193 | Yeah, though "it builds" is a bit lower of a bar than "it works", as I'm sure you know. | 19:08 |
LeePen | :) | 19:09 |
LeePen | If it doesn't build, it definitely doesn't work! | 19:09 |
Unit193 | Hah, it looks as if pipey is specifically mentioned in the backlog. I guess something might have to be written for those type of things to actually start. | 19:14 |
bb|hcb | I am using pipewire (with pasystray) on one desktop and it definitely needs manual start apart from sd... | 20:04 |
bgstack15 | if anyone cares, I use a wireguard init script I found on the Internet somewhere (probably github). Perhaps we could bundle that into a wireguard package, if we rebuild it for Devuan? | 22:26 |
fsmithred | if wireguard dropped the init script, it should probably be added to the orphan-sysvinit-scripts package | 22:38 |
