systemdleteFinally got my webcam working again in vbox VMs.  Turns out that I had to enable usb 3.0 for a webcam that is usb 2.0.   I am wondering if it has anything to do with the port it is plugged into, which is a usb 3.0.   I would hope they'd be back compatible.08:03
systemdleteAt any rate video and mic (both crummy, btw) are now working for me, so I am happy.08:03
systemdleteI say "crummy" because this is a cheapo Microsoft VX-800 I picked up for about $5 in one of those huge bins near the front door at Fry's Electronics.08:04
systemdleteAnd even then, I likely overpaid.08:04
systemdleteI'll point out that I have a new mainboard in the machine hosting the VMs.  But I would also think, there too, that such issues would be abstract to the VM environment.08:05
ficonnihi, I would like to ask if I made a mistake when choosing the netinstall image : I have a Thinkpad x220 and the netinstall tells me the firmware is missing and must be loaded from a CD/DVD (like in Debian) but on the website it says for the netinstall the image includes firmware ? I probably can't see my mistake, can you help me ? I want to install it now21:58
ficonnitalking about the wifi drivers21:59
fsmithredficonni, you can ignore that first message22:07
fsmithredyou will be able to install firmware-iwlwifi (probably will be automatic)22:07
fsmithredthe question is there in case your firmware is not on the CD. (i.e. some broadcoms)22:08
ficonnithanks for responding. Here's some output runing lspci regarding Ethernet and Network controlers. I guess these will be supported ? They were in stock Debian. 03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N 1000 [Condor Peak]22:12
gnarfaceficonni: it's the same exact kernel22:19
ficonniok yes makes sense now that you say it lol22:20
ficonnithank again22:20
