Weeezy | I'm running xfce4 on devuan 4, I'm not getting my wifi connect dialog on my task bar, I used sudo nmcli --ask dev wifi connect SSID to connect successfully | 05:52 |
---|---|---|
Weeezy | I don't get the icon in the tray any longer, how can I add this back? | 05:52 |
gnarface | did it disappear when you upgraded from a previous release? | 06:00 |
gnarface | it may have been removed or renamed and just need to be installed again by the new name | 06:01 |
gnarface | unfortunately i don't know which package it's in, i don't use it | 06:01 |
gnarface | try this search command, it might be one of these: apt-cache search ^xfce | 06:02 |
Weeezy | I was able to connect, I search with my phone to connect through terminal but I don't know how to get it to show in my taskbar | 06:02 |
Weeezy | it's a weird problem | 06:03 |
gnarface | yea if it's just a xfce widget it is probably in one of those packages which has a name starting with xfce4 | 06:03 |
Weeezy | ok. I'll search. thanks | 06:03 |
Weeezy | ------------ | 06:03 |
Weeezy | is it network-manager? | 06:03 |
gnarface | maybe | 06:04 |
gnarface | but it might not be just network-manager, you might need a xfce thingy, i don't know sorry | 06:04 |
gnarface | you could also try task-xfce-desktop maybe that'll get everything | 06:05 |
gnarface | but that also might get more than you want, so i dunno | 06:05 |
gnarface | hmm, got xfce4-wavelan-plugin? | 06:05 |
gnarface | if you hang out a while someone who actually uses xfce should show up | 06:06 |
gnarface | this does keep coming up and the fix is simple, that i remember | 06:06 |
Weeezy | well, I swore at it, that didn't seem to help | 06:07 |
Weeezy | ha | 06:07 |
gnarface | hah | 06:07 |
Weeezy | task-xfce-desktop that seems to be newest | 06:16 |
Weeezy | I guess as long as I have the command line I'll be all set for a while | 06:17 |
Weeezy | I'll be sleeping until further notice | 06:38 |
Weeezy | :) | 06:38 |
ham5urg | Has anyone installed Devuan onto an open compute switch? | 13:04 |
hexagonwin | Hello, I'm using Devuan 4 chimaera on my MacBook4,1 (poly carbonate plastic). Runs wdm and windowmaker. When the physical powerbutton is pressed the machine runs shutdown (not from the bios), but as Devuan doesn't use systemd the tips I find for devuan does not apply. Is there a way to change it (disable it / change it to run custom script)? Thanks. | 14:47 |
debdog | hexagonwin: for a quick response /etc/acpi/powerbtn-acpi-support.sh is worth looking at. I am not certain about Chimaera though, could be something else capture powerbutton instead. | 14:54 |
hexagonwin | debdog Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately my install doesn't have /etc/acpi directory at all.. | 14:55 |
debdog | ok, then it's prolly a leftover from a previous version. | 14:55 |
debdog | sorry, I cannot remember which mechanism took over in chimaera | 15:01 |
debdog | hexagonwin: maybe /etc/elogind/logind.conf? HandlePowerKey= | 15:04 |
Quo-fan | looks like qemu supports uefi boot in devuan | 15:05 |
Quo-fan | pretty kewl | 15:05 |
debdog | hexagonwin: "See logind.conf(5) for details." | 15:05 |
hexagonwin | debdog Thanks, the file is there but the line "handlepowerkey" is commented out (poweroff written) is poweroff supposed to be the default action? | 15:06 |
debdog | right | 15:06 |
hexagonwin | Thanks! | 15:06 |
debdog | (See top of file) | 15:06 |
hexagonwin | Does the change take effect after the reboot? | 15:06 |
