siceloparazyd: Wizzup - https://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=1572266#post157226600:04
siceloLooks like there are quite a few people wanting to try out N9 Leste, but there's not enough info on how to install it smoothly00:05
siceloMaybe we need to document the procedure in the wiki00:06
parazydsicelo: There's a few things that need work00:12
parazyd(Also kernel)00:12
parazydsicelo: Do you have an N9?00:13
parazydfwiw https://leste.maemo.org/Nokia_N900:13
siceloI don't have it :-)00:13
parazydok00:13
parazydThere's different partition layouts for 16 and 64G00:14
parazydI have a 16G one, and I'm not 100% sure how to partition it00:14
parazydAdmittedly, haven't looked at it in a while00:14
inky_i guess i got my pinephone today00:15
inky_i did not open the box yet.00:15
parazydAnd there's a display patch that needs to be applied to mainline, and needs some work00:15
parazyd(See wiki page)00:15
inky_i will of course run leste.00:15
parazydinky_: Nice :)00:15
parazydbtw. the UI is a lot faster in portrait mode00:16
parazydThis is due to some issues in mesa/lima00:16
inky_will update photo light meter because i already checked that it doesn't work on pinephone.00:16
inky_on friends' device00:16
siceloYes I checked it out. Would have been nice if we had someone with it to look at those issues. I just brought it up because I notice once in a while we get people asking about it (N9)00:17
inky_yes on pp i have read hhe default is landscape now00:17
parazydinky_: Automatic rotation works, so just hold the device as you see fit :)00:17
inky_yes, looking forward to run it.00:18
inky_(:00:18
inky_i hope to remember or recover my jenkins password, otderwise will ask you to reset.00:19
sicelo(OT: what's the smallest, actively maintained glibc distro, with or without systemd?)  :-)00:19
parazydinky_: Yeah np if you need reset. Just ping me.00:19
inky_k1sslinux uses musl...00:19
parazydsicelo: Probably tinycore00:19
inky_parazyd, thank you.00:19
parazyd:)00:20
parazydUpdating pinephone kernel and uboot11:26
inetdragonHi, I've recently run an "apt upgrade" and my wifi connection on N900 breaks. Packages libicd-network-wpasupplicant and ic2-network-wpasupplicant-config are upgraded from 0.15 to 0.18. Later I've tried to download the 0.15 debs file and downgraded these two packages. It still doesn't work. In /var/log/syslog, I saw wlan0:CTRL-EVENT-SCAN_FAILED11:33
inetdragonret=-2211:33
inetdragonThe ifconfig output seems to be OK: wlan0: flags=4099<UP,BROADCAST,MULTICAST> mtu 150011:34
inetdragonether 00:1f:df:94:82:9b txqueuelen 1000 (Ethernet)11:35
inetdragonI've tried wpa_cli -> scan -> it returned the CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-FAILED ret=-22.11:36
inetdragoniwconfig returns "wlan0 no wireless extension"11:37
Wizzup_inetdragon: hi, let's see11:58
Wizzup_inetdragon: if you want to downgrade, you also need to downgrade wpa supplicant11:58
Wizzup_but the scan event failing is interesting, does a reboot help?11:58
inetdragonI've already rebooted and the issue still exists11:59
Wizzup_yikes...11:59
Wizzup_so wpa_cli + 'scan' always returns scan failed?12:00
inetdragonOne thing to notice is that when I use 0.18, I saw some error message which is probably added in recent commits: try_disconnect_wpa_control failed with -1, repoted buf len is 1680419412:00
Wizzup_inetdragon: yeah those are some added debug msgs, but they shouldn't be harmful in this case12:01
Wizzup_the scans failing seem like a more serious problem12:01
Wizzup_I don't have a n900 with leste handy (I will in .. 2 days)12:01
inetdragonyes. "wpa_cli + scan" always returns failed. When trying to find a fix, I've deleted the existing wlan connection setting from the "settings -> internet connections". Using the gui to add a new connection, it can't find any wlan access point as well.12:04
Wizzup_yeah, it sounds like the newer wpa supplicant fails for the n90012:04
Wizzup_we made both a newer version of libicd-network-wpasupplicant, but also packaged wpasupplicant12:05
Wizzup_a newer version12:05
inetdragonI'll try to downgrade that as well.12:06
Wizzup_sorry for the mess12:06
inetdragonNot sure if it's my local setup being messed up or not.12:07
inetdragonFor this link https://maedevu.maemo.org/leste/pool/main/w/wpa/, there is no 2.7 version available.12:08
inetdragonWhere can I find it?12:08
Wizzup_I think the older one is just from devuan beowulf12:10
Wizzup_https://pkginfo.devuan.org/cgi-bin/package-query.html?c=package&q=wpasupplicant=2:2.7+git20190128+0c1e29f-6+deb10u3 I *think* this one?12:10
inetdragonyeah. http://deb.debian.org/debian/pool/main/w/wpa/wpasupplicant_2.7+git20190128+0c1e29f-6+deb10u3_armhf.deb12:20
inetdragonI've downgraded to wpasupplicant 2.7. Through the "Settings->Internet connection" UI, it can list the access points and I can connect to wifi again.12:59
inetdragonHowever, something strange is when I run "wpa_cli + scan", it still prints out the -22 failure. However, when I run "scan_result", it gives the right information.13:00
Wizzupinetdragon: ok, so perhaps new wpasupplicant breaks n900 wifi13:00
Wizzuphm13:01
inetdragonNow I'm going to upgrade the 2.9 again to see if it still fails13:01
Wizzupok, you need to upgrade the plugin in sync for maemo13:01
freemangordonguys, going to --force push libhildonmime, any objections?13:03
freemangordon(someone diverged master and beowulf branches)13:04
parazydAll good, no pending changes here13:04
freemangordonok13:04
inetdragonI've verified that when upgrading wpasupplicant from 2.7 to 2.9,  libicd-network-wpasupplicant and ic2-network-wpasupplicant-config are upgraded from 0.15 to 0.18, the wifi connection stops to work.14:58
Wizzupinetdragon: ok, it works here on my droid4 and vm, so there is something with the n900 then14:59
Wizzupparazyd: do you have one around? mine is where I will go again in ~2 days14:59
parazydYeah I can try tonight15:00
lelMerlijnWajer closed an issue: https://github.com/maemo-leste/status-area-orientationlock-applet/issues/1 (This builds and works on droid4 with current system.)15:54
freemangordonparazyd: Wizzup: if you feel like you may want to play a bit with https://github.com/maemo-leste/osso-abook/blob/master/lib/test-avatar-editor-dialog.c16:52
parazydNice!16:52
freemangordonparazyd: may we have   osso-addressbook translations in the repo?16:56
freemangordonnot sure what package is that16:56
parazydIt's there16:57
freemangordonI guess osso-addressbook-l10n-mr0 etc16:57
freemangordonis it?16:57
parazydosso-addressbook-l10n16:57
freemangordonok16:57
parazydYeah16:57
parazydhttps://github.com/maemo-leste-translations/osso-addressbook-l10n/blob/master/po/osso-addressbook.pot16:58
freemangordonok16:58
freemangordonthanks16:58
parazydYou're welcome :)16:58
Wizzupsicelo: can you maybe test wifi on the n900? inetdragon reports that it broke with the latest update :(18:13
uvosfreemangordon: so what changes are you force pushing away?18:20
Wizzupsounds like was just syncing branches  that got out ot sync18:21
freemangordon:nod:18:48
freemangordonthere was one commit in master that was not in beowulf (some license file)18:48
freemangordonso I was not able to keep the flat history without force-pushing to beowulf18:49
freemangordonthis https://github.com/maemo-leste/libhildonmime/commit/4805491aa5d1e69bd300a394b508fa23087782c018:49
freemangordonuvos: ^^^18:51
uvosok thats fine18:53
