brolin_empeyI want to max out both an Asus UL50Vt and Asus UL30Vt Core 2 Duo ULV notebook computer with 8 GiB of main memory but do not know/remember enough about RAM modules to be confident that a different model of 4-GiB DDR3 SDRAM SODIMM than the model I know works in the UL50 with this module plus one of the original 2-GiB modules for 6 GiB total will work.  The 4-GiB model that works with 6 GiB total is a Samsung M471B5273CH0-CH9 but apparently I can only buy one03:23
brolin_empeyof this model but I want to buy four of the same model.  I think the hardware of the UL50 and UL30 is the same as far as the memory is concerned.  I want to buy four modules instead of three because the M471B5273CH0-CH9 I am using is from another notebook computer that I want to leave with 8 GiB total so I only temporarily removed this module from the other computer to see if the UL50 seems to work with this module.03:23
brolin_empeyI do not know if asking the manufacturers of the models of 4-GiB RAM modules of which I can currently buy four will work with the UL50 and UL30 is worthwhile because the official maximum for both of these models of computers is only 4 GiB but they unofficially work with 8 GiB but presumably only with two 4-GiB modules, not with one 8-GiB module.03:30
brolin_empeyI can buy four of these modules from Synnex Canada: Add-On Computer Peripherals PA3918U-1M4G-AA; Kingston KCP316SS8/4 Will either of these models suffice?03:40
brolin_empeyIf I ask in ##hardware then I expect to be asked why I am still using Core 2 instead of the latest and greatest hardware that I cannot afford to buy because I do not need it.03:45
brolin_empeyAlso, the UL30 still has an overlaid numeric keypad, which makes it superior for my use case than newer notebook computers whose designers seem to have conspired to remove the overlaid numeric keypad.  I do not want a notebook computer that is wide/large enough to have a dedicated numeric keypad.03:48
drathir_torbrolin_empey: in such ones most likely matter if memory is single sided or double sided i guess there could have issues with detection...05:17
