Vajb | Oftopic, but does anyone have problems with Lenovo ThinkPad Minidock series 3? I have a problem that docking station loses connection to displays if laptop slightly shifts in dock and even if table shakes a little. Sometimes it reconnects easily, but sometimes I have to reconnect the laptop to the dock several times. This is quite annoying problem and I am wondering if others have faced this and if yes, how did you fix this issue? All | 10:28 |

Vajb | solutions are welcome. | 10:28 |
KotCzarny | if google doesnt return a lot of similar issues then i would assume it's faulty? | 10:30 |
Vajb | I tried googling the problem, but did not find solutions. Few others had similar issues, but none offered much of a solution | 10:38 |
Vajb | It feels like bad connection, bent pin or such but I have not seen any when observing both ports (dock and laptop) | 10:40 |
KotCzarny | at this scale it relies on micrometer scale fitting, i miss springs :) | 10:47 |
Vajb | Ah, good old spring loaded pins... | 10:51 |
KotCzarny | springs are expensive | 10:52 |
KotCzarny | and big | 10:52 |
sixwheeledbeast | don't know much about the docking for lenovo only ever used a dell one in the past | 11:08 |
KotCzarny | they are quirky | 11:10 |
KotCzarny | in my old thinkpads moving laptop sometimes triggered audio reconnect | 11:10 |
KotCzarny | most likely other pins too, but audio was most noticable | 11:11 |
Vajb | I might have fixed it just now. Applied some spray lube meant for fixing bad connections for both ports and I can't make it disconnect anymore. Hope this is not just temporary fix. | 12:05 |
DocScrutinizer05 | Vajb: be careful with those sprays. Learn how to use them right. Usually you should do a flush last, to remove residues left from the contact cleaner. Also not all "contact cleaner" sprays are dor all types of contacts | 17:09 |
