FatPhil | Is there anything I can do to my bashes such that I can simultaniously ^Z and bg the stopped process? Well over half of the time I'm bg-ing them. It might depend on context - a lot of the time this is in the context of an emacs (sorry) shell window. | 15:32 |

hp | hi, how to change timezone in cinnamon devuan not able to do via applet | 16:39 |
lts | hp: "dpkg-reconfigure tzdata" | 16:42 |
hp | thanks; that solved it. | 16:42 |
hp | Client: HexChat 2.14.3 • OS: Debian 11.1 • CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-8130U CPU @ 2.20GHz (2.76GHz) • Memory: Physical: 7.5 GiB Total (6.0 GiB Free) Swap: 954.1 MiB Total (954.1 MiB Free) • Storage: 304.4 GB / 1.1 TB (793.1 GB Free) • VGA: Intel Corporation UHD Graphics 620 @ Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v6/7th Gen Core Processor Host Bridge/DRAM Registers • Uptime: 14m 24s | 16:46 |
rwp | FatPhil, AFAIK no. Control-Z is seen by the tty driver which then sends a SIGSUSP signal. bg is seen by the shell. But bash might have some customization available to be programmed to automatically bg a suspended process. | 16:55 |
rwp | I think that would cause unforeseen problems with the interaction because how would the shell know when it shouldn't bg a process? | 16:57 |
Afdal | Having some trouble compiling something | 17:01 |
Afdal | wonder if anyone can help | 17:01 |

Afdal | -- No package 'minizip' found | 17:01 |
Afdal | Except I have minizip installed | 17:02 |
Afdal | sudo apt install minizip | 17:02 |
Afdal | Don't see any other packages with minizip in their name... | 17:02 |

Afdal | :D | 17:05 |
Afdal | I should have just done a repo search, thanks :3 | 17:05 |
lts | np, good luck | 17:05 |
Afdal | instead of relying on autocomplete | 17:05 |
Afdal | what's a fast way to do that in the future... | 17:05 |
lts | apt search minizip | 17:05 |
Afdal | lol, right | 17:06 |
rwp | Also development files are usually packaged in the -dev package. Runtime in the regularly named package. | 17:09 |

Afdal | woo, compiled \:o/ | 17:16 |

D-HUND | rustyaxe: probably /etc/elogind/logind.conf | 22:53 |
D-HUND | if not that then /etc/acpi/lid.sh | 22:54 |
rustyaxe | D-HUND: thanks! google was being unhelpful and forcing me towards results debian and that s*****d err *unspeakable abomination that we are lucky to not have to use* :) | 23:01 |
