micdudanyone use gdm3 and gnome (not flashback) on daedalus?03:16
rwpmicdud, IIRC GNOME is dependent upon systemd and therefore just not practical to use on Devuan.  People wanting GNOE use Mate (GNOME 2 fork) instead.03:38
micdudwhy was it not disabled then ? as it installs and works half way , but too many crashes and bugs .03:43
micdudor some kind of a note on this situation would have saved me a few days of thinking it was me and my antiquated hardware03:45
XenguyPersonally I'd be fine with snubbing GNOME04:42
XenguyThey certainly deserve it04:42
gnarfaceit actually wasn't there at first, i thought they'd fixed it though04:46
nethead23Hello, did anyone here successfully install php-fmp?07:15
nethead23I mean, php-fpm07:16
nethead23On Daedalus07:16
[-_-]guys, I think svlogd is not working correctly, I have created  a test service (https://termbin.com/rxba)(test/run), and log/run (https://clbin.com/Gbnix) and log/config (https://termbin.com/s54s) with this derectory structure (https://paste.rs/RZFll), logging starts but log rotation don't follow my config, it is supposed to rotate upon 30k of size, yet that do not happen, note: paste debian did not07:27
[-_-]want to take my run script, hence these were not pasted on paste.debian07:27
gnarfacenethead23: you had already gone by the time i asked last time; did you have problems with the one already in the repo?07:38
gnarface[-_-]: what is svlogd? is it from the repo?07:40
[-_-]it is from runit07:40
[-_-]it is from repo07:40
gnarfaceah, i'm not familiar with runit so much, sorry07:42
gnarfaceall i can suggest is check permissions07:42
[-_-]:)07:43
gnarfacestick around, i'm sure somebody knows07:44
nethead23Gnarface: My irc client froze last time. I am looking for a solution to install php7.1 to 7.3 fpm on Devuan Daedalus. There seem to be no solution for deadalus yet. Only for the older Devuan versions. Currently i try to compile from source but did run in a problem because freetype-config is not installed with newer versions of libfreetype...08:25
nethead23The main problem is that the sury packages now depend on systemd: https://github.com/oerdnj/deb.sury.org/issues/134308:29
DelTomixthe versions of php-fpm in daedalus are currently 8.208:33
DelTomixalso the sury packages work fine here08:34
nethead23How can they work fine if they depend on systemd? See github link. Old versions will probably work, yes. But i doubt i can install older versions deb paclages on Devuan 5 / Daedalus?08:36
DelTomix^ nethead23 it seems the post you refer to is from 2020 and and were probably resolved since then - I've had no issue with them here08:36
DelTomixthere are native 8.2 packages in daedalus for which you do not have to use sury08:37
DelTomixwhat apt sources are you using from sury?08:38
nethead23Yes, but i need 7.0 - 7.3 for an older website08:38
nethead23I removed the sury  repository after install failed, will check which one i used. You are sure older php-fpm versions will work on Daedalus?08:40
DelTomixI have 8.2 running here  - don't know about the older versions but I did run 7.4 on chimaera without issue.08:46
nethead23DelTomix: Yes, it works on the older versions but AFAIK not on Daedalus yet. There is an php-fpm repository for Devuan 1 - 4 but not for 5 yet.08:54
nethead23https://pkgs.tdrnetworks.com/apt/devuan/dists/08:55
nethead23Thats the devuan repo which offers older php-fpm versions without systemd dependencies.08:56
nethead23I will continue installing from source....08:56
DelTomixnethead23: apt install --simulate php7.3-fpm looks fine here, I have php8.2-fpm on this machine. I would suggest not to use tdrnetworks.com as a repo. If the version you require is not in daedalus, then for sury php packages use 'deb https://packages.sury.org/php/ bookworm main' in your sources.list which works fine here.08:57
nethead23Did sury remove the requirement for systemd or did someone added Devuan support to the sury packages?09:02
DelTomixDevuan has dummy packages to satisfy dependencies in cases like that09:04
[-_-]guy, the issue has been fixed, the config file should be wherever svlogd is pointed to09:09
nethead23Deltomix: Mhh, i wonder where i went wrong with the sury repo last time ive tried.... You are correct.. it seems to work.. just when i got the php-7.1-fpm  source configured.... :)09:09
[-_-]not where the run file for svlogd is09:10
DelTomixnethead23 excellent glad it works!09:10
nethead23DelTomix: Thx for the help!09:10
DelTomixcheers09:10
Necrodiveri have a question about wine in refracta, should i take it to off topic chat?11:29
gnarfacedepends on what the question is kinda, just ask11:30
Necrodiverso i installed some older windows games (even the newest of them is still late xp era). When i open some of them, they scale up and i can use full screen mode, but if i use window mode (in the native applications), i cant drag to make the window size larger11:32
Necrodiverand some of the games wont even go into full screen mode11:32
Necrodiveris there something ive tried using winecfg but that didnt help11:32
Necrodiveroops, two thoughts at once11:32
Necrodiverive tried using winecfg but changing dpi or virtual dekstop didnt help11:33
Necrodiveri just want to be able to expand the window so the screen isnt so small i cant see whats going on11:33
phoggYou'd have to be more specific about which program to say for sure, but full screen mode probably changes display resolution down and windowed mode does not. I doubt they can be resized even on native Windows.11:59
Necrodiverthe games are touhou project, pc games that are in japanese. Ive had no problems with some, but others wont let me go into fullscreen mode at all12:02
Necrodiverlooks like the only real option is to going into my display settings and lower resolution12:20
Necrodiverthe games dont scale up so12:24
gnarfaceso you can't just set a virtual desktop to a low resolution then set the virtual desktop window to fullscreen mode?13:04
gnarfacevirtual desktop in winecfg, fullscreen mode in the window manager's controls?13:04
gnarfaceyou might also have to have "allow window manager to control windows" or whatever13:05
gnarfaceafter that the game itself probably has to be set to fullscreen in its own controls13:11
Necrodiveri set allow window manager to control windows13:46
Necrodiveri also did the full screen in the games, that didnt help either13:48
Necrodiverthe only thing ive noticed that worked changing the display settings to a lower res, not the virtual desktop13:49
Necrodivergnarface i found out that if you install gamescope and the vulkan drivers for your gpu, that works as well16:03
buZzgamescope? whats that16:09
Necrodiverits actually some wayland compositor for x11 games or something16:11
buZzah wayland16:11
buZzyeah i'll switch to wayland when 1+1=516:11
Necrodiverand one of the dependencies is xwayland :(16:12
Necrodiveri was against it at first for that reason16:12
Necrodiverbut it turns out when you run wine through it, the window resizing issue goes away16:12
buZzor alt-dragging no longer being a server task?16:12
Necrodiverwell for me, the games i am playing are shooting games and the bullets are tiny as hell16:13
Necrodiverso i NEED to see them or i wont get very far16:13
Necrodiveri mean i still feel dirty needing to use it16:14
Necrodiverbecause i dont want to tbh16:14
Necrodiverbut in my specific case, its really my only option16:14
buZzxmag? :d16:19
Necrodiverwhats xmag?16:20
buZzmagnification tool for X :)16:21
gnarfaceNecrodiver: well, for new wine versions vulkan+dxvk are a good choice generally, but i'm still pretty sure you could have pulled this off without wayland. anyway, what's important is that it works though i guess...22:32
