cytokine_stormmy thinkpad e14 goes to sleep when lid is closed. in that state when put to charging it gets heated upto 72 degree celsius. But when charged with lid open temperature stays normal around 48 degree celsius. this happened to me after i upgraded devuan06:24
cytokine_stormeverything else works fine06:25
gnarfacecytokine_storm: hmm, disturbing. how sure are you that it's actually asleep in that state? it is possible that just the screen is turning off06:32
gnarfacemake sure you have acpid installed and running06:35
rwpYou can check the /var/log/syslog to verify that the kernel suspended and then resumed upon lid open.06:36
rwpPersonally I always Fn+suspend (Fn+F4 for me) to suspend before closing the lid.  And I disable suspend upon lid close.06:36
cytokine_stormexactly that must be the problem guys, since the issue only happens when i close the lid09:41
fsmithredMy thinkpad T450 with chimaera does not sleep when lid is closed, even though xfce4-power-manager is set to suspend when lid is closed. It also locks it when it's set not to lock it. If I use pm-suspend, it suspends and does not lock. I'm ok with this behavior, so I haven't tried to fix it.12:32
sadoon_albader[m<fsmithred> "My thinkpad T450 with chimaera..." <- I know you're fine with this behavior but I really want to diagnose it15:12
sadoon_albader[mIf you don't mind :)15:12
sadoon_albader[mDo you run runit by any chance?15:12
fsmithredno, but I could reboot into a runit live-usb if you want15:13
sadoon_albader[mNo, I was trying to see if it's runit related since I've had it with artix runit before15:14
sadoon_albader[mAnd void too15:14
sadoon_albader[mAt any rate there has to be a config file somewhere in etc that governs this15:14
sadoon_albader[mI'll look into it if I'm free tonight15:15
fsmithredok15:15
fsmithredsadoon_albader[m, I got it working. Two problems: I was setting power-manager for On Battery instead of On AC. And I replaced lxdm with lightdm.18:20
fsmithrednow it sleeps and locks when I close the lid and just sleeps when I use pm-suspend.18:20
fsmithredI tried editing UPower.conf and logind.conf as suggested in some posts, but that didn't work. Also, adding --no-daemon to the power-manager command in /etc/xdg/autostart/ didn't help.18:21
fsmithredalso tried xfconf-query -c xfce4-power-manager -p /xfce4-power-manager/logind-handle-lid-switch -s false18:22
fsmithredwhich also did not work18:23
brocashelmfortunately, i never need to use sleep/hibernate, but yes, they don't work for me, either. i don't think they ever did19:15
brocashelmmaybe it's something that depends on systemd and a non-systemd boot halts it?19:16
brocashelmoff-topic, btw, but good to know: apparently, xfce 4.18 will leave csd as an opt-in thing19:17
sadoon_albader[m<fsmithred> "sadoon_albader, I got it working..." <- Nice, good to hear19:19

rwpFor suspend-resume issues the Ubuntu wiki page is pretty informative. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend20:54
