Wizzup | uvos: haha | 00:31 |
---|---|---|
Wizzup | rnnoise works quite well in PA | 12:02 |
Wizzup | might be too heavy for the n900 though | 12:08 |
uvos | why is audio so bad on n900 anyhow? is it feedback? or is the circutry just terrible? | 12:10 |
Wizzup | uvos: what part of it? | 12:38 |
Wizzup | As in, what is 'bad' ? | 12:38 |
Wizzup | Do you mean modem? | 12:38 |
uvos | well all of it really so the call audio quality and also just the headphone media output isent so great either. | 12:39 |
Wizzup | I think the droid4 has built in echo cancellation and some other stuff that the n900 modem just doesn't | 12:41 |
Wizzup | I have not had problems with HP output | 12:41 |
uvos | yes it dose | 12:41 |
uvos | so its feedback | 12:41 |
uvos | is what you are saying | 12:41 |
Wizzup | yes, and I also believe some codecs require you to generate noise to get quality better | 12:46 |
Wizzup | e.g. speex does some weird ramping up | 12:46 |
Wizzup | cutting off the first and last parts | 12:46 |
Wizzup | like they do some moving average to send over anything at all | 12:51 |
Wizzup | for the record rnnoise is not related to echo cancellation or that kind of stuff | 12:55 |
sicelo_ | . | 12:55 |
Wizzup | it's just to filter out background noise | 12:55 |
Wizzup | sicelo_: hi | 12:55 |
sicelo_ | hi Wizzup :) | 12:56 |
sicelo_ | sorry for spam. just checking something | 12:56 |
Wizzup | np | 12:57 |
sicelo | surprised to hear n900 audio is bad ... tbh, i haven't tested it much, but i don't see why it would be bad (besides voice calls, of course) | 13:13 |
uvos | sicelo: mine has quite some hiss | 13:15 |
uvos | the d4 isent ideal either and also has some but not nearly as mutch | 13:16 |
Wizzup | don't have that problem on fremantle at least | 13:25 |
Wizzup | maybe some boost is on or something | 13:25 |
Wizzup | n900 has 229 controls in alsa | 15:13 |
uvos | Wizzup: yeah i might have misconfigured something idk | 15:18 |
Wizzup | uvos: maybe something is just too loud | 15:19 |
inky | i hope i can order a pinephone soon. | 16:43 |
inky | so, did you hear about Megi's patches that make the phone to last about 6 days in idle? | 16:44 |
inky | i hope leste will integrate the patches. | 16:44 |
inky | for pp. | 16:44 |
inky | because my understanding is, currently pinephone has a couple of hours of battery life. | 16:44 |
tvall | how does the libera matrix bridge handle photos? | 16:47 |
* tvall uploaded an image: (1937KiB) < https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/r0/download/tvall43.ddns.net/psEiOMwinrgwCXcEwItJAfkX/IMG20210605094613.jpg > | 16:48 | |
tvall | finally switched from ddroid to kexecboot on that bionic i bought as a droid 4 | 16:48 |
uvos | is there any way to have hildon home show icon labels? | 16:51 |
parazyd | inky: Where are these patches? | 16:52 |
tvall | https://xnux.eu/log/#033 his blog about it | 16:54 |
tvall | https://megous.com/git/linux/log/?h=orange-pi-5.13 git repo and relevant branch | 16:54 |
parazyd | Thanks | 16:55 |
Wizzup | tvall: :) | 16:56 |
parazyd | My Pinephone is at customs ATM but should be cleared next week | 16:57 |
uvos | nice @ pp pm | 17:06 |
Wizzup | I think that will be in hibernate-ram with modem wakeup gpio, no? | 17:07 |
* Wizzup reads blog | 17:07 | |
Wizzup | Yeah: | 17:07 |
Wizzup | I've also done more power draw measurements a few weeks ago (that's where the before/after pictures linked above are from), and pinephone's power consumption in suspend is now around 60mW with modem off. Modem usually adds another 10–15mW. So with 11Wh battery, that means around 6 day standby, if that's all you do with the phone. :) | 17:07 |
Wizzup | still, that's neat | 17:08 |
uvos | yeah how do we plan to support pp style pm in leste | 17:09 |
uvos | really pp is best suited to android wakelock style pm | 17:10 |
Wizzup | uvos: maybe when we have some other stuff working (like knowing is pa is playing something, etc) we could think about how to suspend | 17:14 |
Wizzup | I don't know of any good ways atm | 17:14 |
uvos | you shal have a user selectable mode that suspends and then resumes for some seconds every n minutes | 17:16 |
uvos | if the display is off | 17:16 |
uvos | thats how android works in non wakelock modes on chips that dons support synamic pm like omap | 17:17 |
uvos | more or less | 17:17 |
parazyd | PP can suspend to ram and be woken up by modem | 17:43 |
parazyd | The rest is cpuidle, ts idle, etc. | 17:43 |
inky | i by the way did not find the patches. i only found that page. and they said there is an article on wiki about how to apply patches but i was not able to find it. | 22:28 |
